Every day of every week of every month all year long, there’s a soup kitchen in Evanston for our neighbors who are hungry. Collectively we’ve been doing this for decades…since 1979, in fact. (Download the complete DOC of soup kitchens, warming centers and shelters in the Evanston area, including those sponsored by others.)
How to Get Involved: Our volunteers staff several soup kitchens operating in the Evanston area (See times below.) They are all run by teams. A group (from a faith congregation, or any business, community, educational, or social group) does the following: Plans, purchases, prepares, serves and cleans up a hot meal for 115 people at the site. (Friday noon at First Congregational is a bag lunch meal). Individuals who aren’t connected to a group can be added to a list of volunteers who are able to help out a team if they are short-staffed. Both individuals and teams are really important!
