IAE Producemobile: August 25; September 8 & 22, October 13, November 10, 2020
9:30-10:30 AM, James Park, 300 Dodge.
The Greater Chicago Food Depository and Interfaith Action will have Producemobile distributions on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of every month through September. Starting in October, the Producemobile distribution will occur on the 2nd Tuesday of the month only.
Because of construction at Robert Crown Community Center, the Producemobile has been moved to the parking lot at James Park, 300 Dodge in Evanston. All volunteers and guests must wear masks and maintain social distancing. On August 11, our 48 volunteers handed out a boxes of fresh produce, and prepacked boxes of dairy items and frozen pre-cooked meat. A total of 18,160 lbs was distributed to 347 guests with 1348 members in their households.
IAE is piloting a new program called SNAPGap, which provides a personal hygiene item like bars of soap, toothpaste/brushes, and/or deodorant at the second Tuesday Producemobiles. We also plan to add household supplies.
We need volunteers to help distribute the boxes of food and SNAPGap items. If you would like more information or to sign up to volunteer as a Box Hauler (able to lift and move 25 lb boxes), Produce Packer (able to stand for 2 hours), or help manage Producemobile traffic, we would love to have you join us.
