Joyce Davidson has been a member of Unity on the North Shore for 19 years. During this time, she has served in numerous capacities, such as board member, greeter, and usher, and she handles any special projects or opportunities that come up throughout the year.
She has served in her Evanston community as a tutor for the GED program at ETHS; at Mary Lou’s Place, Evanston’s women’s shelter, for six and a half years; and at different food pantries. Currently, she volunteers 3 hours weekly at Hillside Food Pantry and six hours weekly in a kindergarten classroom.
Joyce started out volunteering after college, because seeing others less fortunate than she helped her to stop concentrating on what she did not have in her life. After her son died, Joyce chose to honor his memory by giving more in terms of her time, talent, and tenth in honor of his big heart.
Joyce also believes it is her way to show gratitude to God for her many blessings.
The more she gives, the more she is able to help others.
