If you want to laugh and have your day brightened up, spend some time with St. Mary’s Vision Keeper, Elaine Pollak.
Her friends describe her as a person who always is ready with a joke or a funny comment. Don’t be fooled. Elaine has a heart of gold and a special gift for spotting people’s problems and doing her best to solve them. On any given day, she might be driving a friend to a doctor’s appointment or a social event. On Sunday, her car is always full of people she is driving to church.
Elaine’s special ministry is with the older parishioners at St. Mary. She is chair of the Young-at-Heart group that meets monthly over bag lunches to socialize, play games, or listen to a lecture. The emphasis is usually on fun! Many of the same ladies involve themselves in Elaine’s other passion, the weekly quilting group. Quilters have found a home at St. Mary for many years, but the original group was in danger of disbanding until Elaine took a hand.
On the spiritual side, Elaine is a long-time member of the Wednesday Prayer Group, a frequent participant in Bible study, and a greeter.
Elaine has been married for 48 years and has three grown children.
St. Mary treasures Elaine Pollak and proudly names her as its 2017 Vision Keeper.
