Krissie Harris is a firm believer in giving back to her community. She has worked at Oakton Community College for the past 18 years and prides herself on trying to make a difference in each student she encounters.
A newly appointed trustee at Second Baptist Church, Krissie has participated in numerous volunteer projects, particularly on the North Shore: Ronald McDonald House (permanent monthly volunteer); North Shore CROP Walk (coordinator and participant); Joe “Butch” Martin Fund; Foster Seniors (photographer); ETHS Parent Ambassador and the Dajae Coleman Foundation. She also volunteers annually for the Race Against Hate, Walk a Mile in Her Shoes and at the Ebenezer-Primm Towers Senior Citizens Home.
Krissie is the immediate past President of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Omega Pi Zeta chapter, and a past President of the American Association of Women at Community Colleges. She has also served on the Evanston Parks and Recreation Board.
Krissie has a Bachelor’s Degree from Illinois State University and a Master’s Degree in Higher Education Administration.
Her wonderful family (mother, Denise Martin; brother, Joe Martin; and children, Romell and Alexis Harris) can be found many times volunteering with her because it’s a Family Affair.
